Our waterway cruises Burgundy : Saône — Bresse
Burgundy /Franche-Comté — Saône
Pontailler-sur-Saône : freely navigate the Saône or Lesser Saône, where there are few locks. The Burgundy canal will take you to the canalised stretch of the river Doubs, from where you’ll go on to cross the Marne-Saône canal. These lands are rich in history and one of France’s top gastronomic destinations. You’ll also discover an alternative natural setting as you take in rivers bordered by reeds, oaks and willows, from which grey herons, kingfishers and ducks fly. In addition, your cruise will be a great opportunity to sample the local cuisine : “pôchouse” in Bresse (a kind of bouillabaisse made with freshwater fish), along with many other specialities, washed down with famous Burgundy wines.
Bresse bourguignonne — Seille
The Seille, a tributary of the Saône, is a beautiful river flowing through the heart of Bresse Bourguignonne, home to the famous Bresse chickens. Discover the quiet charm of its groves at the water’s edge, dotted with half-timbered houses. Finally, head to Louhans, a lively and picturesque town with its main avenue lined with 157 arcades and sixteenth century facades. A famous farmers’ market is held here every Monday morning.
